Greetings from President of ETAK
It is honor to be a host of “The 1st Korean English Teachers Associations Joint Conference & 2007 ETAK International Conference” in Kongju University (Kongju, Chung-Nam) on September 8, 2007 as the president of ETAK.
Since inception, the ETAK has developed and expanded on the basis of dedication of all prestigious members. The prosperity of this association would be approved by the increasing numbers of new members along with outnumbered contributions to our quarterly Journal. Particularly in 2006, 78 talented professionals were joined to ETAK as the new members. In addition, our quarterly published journal has been received more enthusiastic contribution gradually including the international issue (the summer issue). I’m sure this radical development is built up with our members’ active interests, participations and affection, which will be encouraged constantly.
The theme of this conference is “Emerging Issues and Challenges in English Education,” which would be expected a depth debate of a pending problem in terms of in and outside of colloquiums in this nation. Furthermore, almost 60 research papers related to the various subjects will be presented and discussed to provide the open space of exchange information of who were engaged in the filed of English education.
This association is co-hosted by the Modern English Education Society (MEESO), the Korea English Education Society (KEES) and Korea Institute of Curriculum and Evaluation (KICE). As it has already pronounced, the United Korean English Teachers Association (UKETA) was inaugurated on March 1, 2007. With the advent of this United Association, there is an open opportunity for other ELT related associations to join us. Also, it will continuously provide the nationwide conference and scholastic activities for the teaching of English in Korea. Lastly, I hope that all our members and family would have great year with healthy and luck and wish I could see all members at the conference in Kongju University.
